About the firm

A small firm, on purpose.

Elixir Insights was founded in 2023 by Sam Harrington, a consultant who wanted to do the work rather than sell it and hand it over.

Why we exist

Large firms are good at scale. They are less good at staying in the room when a recommendation turns out to be uncomfortable. We built Elixir Insights to work the other way round: senior people on the ground, small teams, and a willingness to tell a client that the project they asked for is not the project they need.

That shapes what we take on. We turn down work where the answer is already decided and we are being hired to endorse it. We publish what we learn, including the engagements that changed our own minds.

How we are different in practice

A partner is on every engagement week, not just at the steering committee. Teams are three to five people, and the analysts who build the model are the ones who present it.

We price in phases, so you can stop after the framing phase if the answer is already clear. Roughly one engagement in six ends there, which is a result we are comfortable with.

What we hold ourselves to

Say the difficult thing early

Bad news does not improve with age. If the analysis is turning against the original hypothesis, you hear it that week.

Leave the capability behind

Your team builds the model with us. When we leave, the spreadsheet, the logic and the people who understand it stay.

Numbers before opinions

Every recommendation traces back to a source your finance team can check. No black boxes in the appendix.

Leadership

The people who will actually be on your engagement.
